Makeup How To: Winged Eyeliner

A lot of girls are afraid of liquid liner. And for good reason! Applying winged eyeliner is difficult, even for those who apply it every day!  Most of the times you don't get it right, that is why practice makes perfect here! There is something about this simple look that appears flattering and chic on everyone as it adds that dose of glamour to any makeup look.

Before further detailing this tutorial here are a few tips:
  • Liquid, gel and cream eyeliners gives a precise line while pencil and eyeshadow gives a soft line.
  • It is very imortant to use the right eye liner when going for this look: If you're a beginner go for the easiest eyeliner to manipulate such as the liquid pen. Gel or cream eyeliners are more for those who master the technique as they are trickier to work with.
  • The ideal time to apply eye liner is after your eye shadow and before your mascara. If your eyelids are prone to getting oily, powder your lids and apply an eye shadow base.
Step 1: Gently drag the pen along the lashline and past the top outer corner of your eye. Follow the upward curve of your eye with the eye liner. For a dramatic winged look, draw farther out and angle the liner more.

Step 2: Start at the outer corner of the line you just drew and work back toward your eye in short strokes.

Step 3: As you get closer to the inner lash line, draw a thinner line. You want the effect of the liner to be thin to thick from the inner corner of the eye to the outer.

Step 4: Connect the liner to the inner corner of your eye. Fill in any missing spaces along the lash line. Repeat on your other eye and voilà, you've completed your winged eye liner!

Practice, practice and practice don't get discouraged if you don't get it right the first time. No one did! Keep practicing and you'll get it down.
