Make up is an essential. It is part of every woman's daily routine, that's why it is crucial to have the right products in your make up bag to create a go-to everyday look.
A beginner without any basic make up know how, would probably be lost in a make up store due to the insane number of cosmetic choices. Most of the time we don't know what are the items we have to have and those that are "nice" to have. All that jargon doesnt help make things easier: foundation, fluid foundation, powder, blush, highlighter, bronzer, concealer, mascara, lipgloss, lipstick.... let alone the sales assistants, who very often, add to your confusion by pushing you to buy the most expensive products or the ones you would barely use.
So, what are the true essentials? It is quite different for everyone, of course, but there are some old standbys that you can definitely spend some cash on. The following list will include the basics and can also help you create a "Starter" set of make up.
1)- Foundation:
There are so many kinds of foundation on the market that it is quite easy to find the perfect match, you just have to take into consideration two factors:
- The type of skin: if you have an oily, dry or a combination skin (where your forehead and nose might tend to look shiny, and your cheeks might feel dry commonly known as the T-zone)
-The coverage: if you want a foundation that would completely cover your perfect imperfections (we all have one) or you're just looking for a light/natural glow.
2)-Concealer:
While some women have been uniquely blessed and do not need a concealer, many still need to cover the dark spots, scars or dark circles under the eyes. Concealer can make those blemishes fade, if not disappear entirely. Concealer comes in liquids good for dry skin, creams and sticks, then again it all depends on your skin type.
3)-Blush:
It is a non-negotiable makeup item. A swipe of color on your cheeks is natural and creates a healthy glow. It comes in powders and creams. Powder is quicker and easier to apply, but creams suit more dry cheeks.
4)-Mascara:
A black or dark brown mascara is a must for an everyday look.Thinner mascaras with finer brushes create more "natural" lashes, and the thicker ones with fat brushes make thin lashes look bigger.
5)-Eyeliner:
To define your eyes when drawn very close to your lash line. A classic black shade is a necessity for most skin tones. It can add a touch of glamour to an everyday makeup palette.
6)-EyeShadow:
For your basic makeup collection, it’s a good idea
to have some neutral colors. They are considered as the "little black dress" of your eye shadow collection.
7)- Lip gloss or lipstick:
Lip glosses are definitely easier to apply thanks to the precision of the little brush/sponge, they also make your lips look plumper. However lipsticks are more opaque and last longer. Choosing the right color is up to you and your mood.
